Will you be my ...?
10 September 2022
As the title already suggests, this blog post is about how I asked Jennifer, my sister, to be my maid of honour (MOH). I knew for quite a while already, even before we got engaged, that I wanted to have her as my MOH. So when I got engaged in July, I was already thinking about how to ask her to fulfil this important role in my wedding.
My first idea was to give her a personalized maid of honour box which you can order online from multiple sites. The package usually includes small jewellery, some small trinkets and much other stuff. However as I wanted to make this gift a little bit more special and personal, I decided to create my own box and fill it up with things I know for sure she would love.

I bought the box above and filled it with pictures of us two and added more items which I thought she would like: some caramel sea salt truffles, a small bottle of bubbles, skincare items and a small perfume sample. These items were not the real gift, however.
If you did not know yet, I have been fond of sapphires since my relationship began with Joey on September 30, 2014. As sapphires are September's birthstones, I have always wanted to have an oval sapphire (engagement) ring. Hence why my 'Something Blue' is now my engagement ring.
As Jennifer's birthday is in September as well, I thought that it would be very fitting to give her earrings with Sapphire gems. As she would be my maid of honour, this gift was meant to be in my eyes as our wedding jewellery would now match a little. Watch the video below on how she found out 😊
