After the question
15 July 2022
The story of the engagement moment did not yet end where I left on the last blog. As previously told, the photographer had shot the moment of Joey popping the question and me saying "Yes!!". Afterwards she additionally did a small photoshoot with us. I think this also shows how attentive Joey was as he knew that I would definitely want to have the moment documented to look back on. I am glad as well that the photographer did such a good job capturing this milestone for us.

When we had enough pictures taken, the photographer left us to have some time alone. Which is when I heard from Joey that he had been planning the engagement over the course of 9 months. (He had the custom made sapphire ring in January already!) Every detail of the setup was thought of, such as the colour of the pillows and the baby blanket he used on which I sat. He explained how he had to orchestrate this while I was always by his side and he told me how I apparently have messed with his plans on accident multiple times during the last months.
One small example of this was on the day of the engagement when he was leading me through the dunes. I noticed that his pants were looking weird as I was walking behind him. I told him his pants looked saggy and without a thought, I tried to pull it up for him. Before I could he promptly stopped me in my tracks and said that it was fine as it was. Little did I know, it looked saggy because the ring was tucked away in his pants and he was trying his best to conceal it from me!
When he filled me in on the details of how he planned it, he apparently still had one more surprise left for me. He told me that the photographer was waiting for us to walk out of the dunes to capture more moments of us, so I tried to act natural.
While the photographer took pictures of us walking out of the dunes, I suddenly noticed a group of people, with one particularly tall man who looked suspiciously like my dad. And to my (second) surprise our families were indeed waiting for us and filming us walking towards them! The engagement itself was very special to me already, but Joey made it perfect by inviting our loved-ones to be there too.
Together with them we had a lovely dinner at a beach restaurant nearby and I was filled in by everyone on how they found out about the plan and I filled them in on how hilariously I laughed at the fact that I was so oblivious all this time.
